🇰🇷 #SouthKorea - 🇺🇦 #Ukraine: South Korea's presidential office has demanded an official explanation and apology from Ukraine over Kyiv's disclosure of the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war to South Korea, saying the move violated a prior agreement to keep the matter confidential.
The two men were captured by Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region in January 2025 while fighting alongside Russian forces, becoming the first North Korean soldiers captured alive in the war.
They later expressed a desire to go to South Korea and were transferred there after Seoul and Kyiv held discussions over their fate. South Korea says Ukraine had agreed to keep the transfer confidential but later disclosed it through President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's UN address and subsequently denied that such an agreement existed.
