WHO IS GOD?
Who is this God, this mighty Weaver of the world’s great tapestry, whose hand spins the threads of creation with a wisdom deeper than the roots of the baobab tree? Across the vast savannahs and dense forests of Africa, His greatness echoes in the rhythm of opposites, each a song of His boundless power. He pours fire into the sun, scorching the sands of the Kalahari, yet cradles the cool breath of dawn that kisses the dew on Kilimanjaro’s slopes. He stretches time long, like the endless journey of the Nile, weaving tales of ancestors through generations, yet carves moments short, like the swift flight of the weaver bird darting through acacia branches. The sea roars with the fury of a lion, its waves crashing along the shores of Lagos, while the land stands firm, vast as the Serengeti, holding the stories of our people in its red earth. Light dances with darkness, as the stars pierce the night sky above the Great Rift Valley; joy rises like drumbeats at a harvest festival, even where tears have watered the soil of sorrow. High mountains, like the proud peaks of Mount Kenya, cast shadows over humble valleys, and rushing rivers, wild as the Zambezi, flow beside still pools where egrets stand in quiet grace. In every contrast—heat and cold, vast and small, fierce and tender—God’s hand paints a world alive with balance, a proverb spoken in the language of creation.
But His greatness is not only in the earth’s heartbeat; it is in the love that burns brighter than the noonday sun. This God, whose name is whispered in the winds of the Sahel, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to walk the dusty paths of humanity, to carry the weight of our sins like a shepherd bearing a lost lamb. On the cross, He poured out His life, a sacrifice as generous as the rains that revive the parched ground, so that we might be reconciled to the Father. And now, as the elders tell stories by the fire, we hold fast to His promise: Jesus will return, swift as the harmattan wind, to gather His children—sons and daughters of Africa and beyond—to a home where the drum of eternity never ceases. Who is this God? He is the Creator of opposites, the Keeper of promises, the One whose love calls us to the eternal village of His kingdom.
