Kupyansk sector.
While the Ukrainians advance near Dvorichna, the Russians continue attacking Kupyansk and have done so for more than a year, since August 2025.
As of the time of writing, a very small number of the Russians that initially infiltrated Kupyansk in early 2026 still remain in the city, having hidden for months and living on drone-dropped supplies, a bit like the last Ukrainians holding positions in Toretsk and later Pokrovsk.
These few Russians then mixed with newly infiltrated Russians, especially in the northern but also the central part of the city, that were trying to return lost positions and unblock them.
At the moment, Russian infiltrations into the city continue, and the situation is locked in a stalemate, exactly like Orikhiv, where the Russians infiltrate, the Ukrainians clear them (physically and with UAVs), and the cycle repeats, without the possibility to turn the gray area (which is still actual) into a blue area.
