The first visit to Kyiv by Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner is now in doubt: they had planned trips to Moscow and Kyiv on September 5–6, but Witkoff “started to get scared” after Russian warnings that it would be dangerous. According to a Kyiv Independent source, Moscow does not want them to come to the Ukrainian capital, and Witkoff is always sensitive to Russian sentiment. Alternative visit plans are now being discussed.
