Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, has published the Principles by which he will lead the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
These principles outline his priorities, requirements for commanders and staff, and approaches to developing the military during wartime.
At the heart of these Principles are people. The Commander-in-Chief considers the personnel to be the most valuable asset of the Armed Forces. Therefore, a commander is responsible not only for completing tasks but also for training and preserving personnel, developing subordinates, and avoiding unjustified risks.
Service should become more predictable and fair, and personnel decisions should be based on professionalism and results.
The Commander-in-Chief expects commanders to be honest, proactive, and responsible. He expects staff to be less bureaucratic, make faster decisions, and work in the interests of the troops. He expects the Armed Forces as a whole to demonstrate sound initiative, the ability to acknowledge mistakes, quickly translate combat experience into changes, and adapt faster than the enemy.
The main approach is to simultaneously conduct the war and build the military of the future. Each stage of this war should leave the Armed Forces of Ukraine stronger.
