Success in business
1. Why do some people open their own business?
2. Is it better to have your own business than work for a boss?
I think one of the main reasons is that people want to be their own boss. They don’t want to depend on someone else or have to follow a fixed schedule. They also have more freedom to make their own decisions and, if things work out well, they can potentially earn more money.
For example, I’ve seen people start small online businesses while studying or working a regular job. They initially do it on the side, but if the business takes off, they may eventually turn it into a full-time career.
3. What do you need to start a business?
First and foremost, you need a solid plan. You have to know what you’re offering, who your target customers are, and how you’re going to make a profit. Of course, you also need enough funding to get things off the ground.
But money isn’t everything. I think you also need to be mentally prepared for setbacks, because things won’t always go according to plan. For example, if someone starts an online shop and doesn’t get many customers at first, they need to stick with it, learn from the experience, and make adjustments rather than give up straight away.
4. Do you agree that nowadays it is easier to set up a business than in the past?
Yeah, definitely. I think the internet and social media have made it much easier to get started. In the past, you might have needed a physical shop and a large advertising budget just to reach potential customers. Nowadays, you can start a small business from home and promote it online.
For example, someone can make handmade jewellery at home, set up an Instagram page, post pictures of their products, and take orders online. They don’t necessarily need to rent a shop or spend a fortune on advertising.
5. Do people in your country like to work in big companies or small companies?
I think it depends on what people are looking for. Some people prefer big companies because they offer better job security, career opportunities, and sometimes better benefits. Others would rather work for a small company because the atmosphere can be more relaxed and they can have a more hands-on role.
For example, a fresh graduate might choose a big company to gain experience and build their career, while someone who values a close-knit working environment might prefer a smaller company.
6. What challenges and difficulties do people face when they try to have a successful small business?
There are quite a few. For starters, it can take a long time for a business to become profitable. People may put a lot of time, effort, and money into it without seeing immediate results. If things don’t go their way, they could end up losing both their investment and valuable time.
For example, someone might spend months developing a product, only to realize that there isn’t much demand for it. That can be a huge setback, but hopefully they can learn from it and avoid making the same mistake next time.
