World‑leading battery maker CATL unveiled two major breakthroughs on Tuesday that could reshape the EV market.
The company announced a battery pack capable of giving an electric car up to 1,500 km of range, as well as a new LFP “Shenxing” generation that can charge from 10% to 98% in about 6 minutes.
1500 km range: refueling once a week
The star of the show is the Freevoy Dual‑Power system, which combines two independent energy zones for everyday driving and extended range.
CATL claims real‑world packs can deliver 800-1,500 km, operate at temperatures as low as -40 °C, and charge at up to 1.3 MW, making ultra‑long‑range “electro‑refueling” economically viable.
6‑minute charging: goodbye gas‑station analogy
The latest LFP Shenxing battery charges from 10% to 35% in just one minute and from 10% to 98% in roughly 6 minutes, approaching the speed of fueling a combustion‑engine car.
CATL emphasizes that this is achieved without drastic lifespan loss and with high tolerance to overheating and mechanical damage, making the technology ready for mass‑market EVs in China and Europe.
