Hidden Sins, Hidden Mercy
Sometimes I feel embarrassed when people call me a good person, because deep down, I know the parts of myself they cannot see.
The truth is, I am not as good as people think I am. I have made mistakes, fallen into sins, and struggled with things I would never want anyone to know. If people see goodness in me, it is not because I am deserving of their praise. It is because Allah SWT, in His immense mercy, has concealed my sins.
He has protected my dignity when I could have been exposed. He has allowed people to see the little good in me while hiding the countless flaws within me. And that thought humbles me.
So when someone calls me a good person, I don't want it to make me proud. I want it to make me grateful—and afraid of becoming the person they think I am without ever becoming better before Allah.
May I never mistake Your ستر for my own righteousness. And may I spend the rest of my life becoming worthy of the mercy You have already shown me.
