just had sth a like a fight (if it can be called that) with my stepcousin (yes, I have a stepcousin) over my mom supposedly speaking bad Russian.
so, my stepcousin is my uncle's wife's daughter from a previous relationship, and she's Russian. she's staying at our house rn, she's been here for a few days now. today she was talking to my mom, in Russian, cuz she speaks 0 other languages; they're done talking, she comes to me, and says "твоя мама на русском не очень разговаривает". I get pissed, cuz mom really can make some awkward sentences, она реально может выразиться таким образом что русскоговорящих человеку это покажется немного странным, но это всё равно понятно-de. I still do my best not to be rude and ask her what happened, and she says "ну, она пошла смывать макияж и сказала 'пойду отмывать макияж'; а его же смывают, а не отмывают". I get even more pissed, and I had an angry monolog abt how you can't disrespect ppl like that, especially when they're not speaking their mother tounge, and how she's ни без ни ме на узбекский, and so on.
now I'm thinking I might've overreacted a bit. but I still don't like Russian ppl's entitlement to others speaking their language, and how they're so critical (not always, but still) of how well others speak their language. like, bitch, be grateful.
