Ahead of the SEC's Aug. 31 comment deadline on its Novel ETFs docket, a16z, Grayscale, and the Crypto Council for Innovation submitted different proposals urging the SEC to avoid one-size-fits-all rules for new crypto ETFs. SEC Chair Paul Atkins called the broader "Regulation Crypto Assets" proposal a step toward a clearer market-structure framework.
Matters because: Diverging industry positions may slow final rulemaking, which could delay approval timelines for newer crypto ETF structures beyond spot BTC and ETH.
