Another year comes to an end.
And when I look back, I don’t just see the moments I wish I could relive. I see the moments that broke me a little. The people I lost, the things that didn’t work out, the versions of myself I had to leave behind. I see the days I smiled when I was tired of pretending I was okay, and the nights when I questioned whether I was really moving forward at all.
But somehow, I was.
Maybe growth isn’t always obvious while you’re living through it. Sometimes it looks like surviving a day you thought would destroy you. Sometimes it’s quietly letting go. Sometimes it’s choosing yourself after spending so long trying to be enough for everyone else.
This year taught me that not everything I lose is a loss, and not everything I want is meant to stay. Some people were chapters. Some moments were lessons. Some endings were actually beginnings disguised as pain.
I’m grateful for the beautiful moments, but I’m also grateful for the difficult ones. They introduced me to parts of myself I wouldn’t have met otherwise.
So I’m not entering this new year expecting everything to suddenly become perfect.
I just want to enter it wiser. Softer where I can be, stronger where I need to be, and more at peace with the things I cannot control.
To the version of me who made it through this year: thank you for not giving up.
And to the year ahead, I’m not asking you to be easy.
Just make it meaningful.
