The map illustrates how the Riverside Park has changed since 2010. Overall, the area has undergone significant modernization and become more visitor-friendly and entertaining, with the introduction of cafe, swings, hotel and cycle path. Notably, the main original features such as vegetation, heritage railway and parking facilities have been preserved.
In 2010, the park had a relatively simple layout. To the east side, there was Heritage railway which run from south to north with stations in both sides, while south-west corner of the area was occupied by large vegetation. The main park area was encircled by road, which was accessed by the station of railway at the top. Inside this area, there were three parking spaces alongside the road as well as three toilet blocks near parking areas. Additionally, walking path curved through the eastern side of the park, making oval-shaped route near the center. To the northern boundaries, there was a river running from west to east.
At present, the park has been considerably upgraded with several new facilities. A new cycle path has been constructed alongside the riverbank. Inside the park, new swings for children have been erected in northern side between toilets, while a new cafe now occupies the north side, close to oval-shaped road. A hotel also has been built in the south-eastern side, near the Heritage railway. More parking spaces have been added to the oval-shaped road to improve accessibility. Notably, some original features, including vegetation, railway and internal road system have largely been retained.
