Costa Rica's Chamber of Info communications and Technology (Infocom)… — MAYHEM MEL NEWS — TG.ME

Costa Rica's Chamber of Info communications and Technology (Infocom) has created a special committee to coordinate initiatives and promote artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers in the country.

Infocom is a private, non-profit association founded in 2003 that brings together public and private companies from the telecommunications and technology sector.

Its main members include Claro, Liberty Costa Rica, Tigo, ICE/Kölbi, Telecable, Ufinet, Fibernet, Trans Americas Fiber, Deloitte and Itellum, among others.

According to Infocom, the committee will seek to promote the development of AI and data centers under the principles of technological neutrality and risk-based regulation.

Oscar Rojas, director of Bjumper, will coordinate the initiative, which will focus on aligning critical infrastructure—data centers—with AI applications, while avoiding premature burdens that could limit innovation.

The initiative comes as the sector expands in the country.
