The commission issued two decisions regarding the replacement of a candidate and the approval of adding members to political parties A statement issued by the Commission and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Board of Commissioners discussed, during its session held on September 1, 2026, the memorandum of the Office of the Head of the Electoral Administration regarding the selection of an alternative candidate for MP Ashwaq Najm al-Din Abbas Muhammad al-Jaf, who won membership in the House of Representatives for the sixth parliamentary session of 2025."
He added, “The Council decided that (Nana Zaka T Hussein Hama Saeed Mohammed), the alternative candidate, within the Kurdistan Democratic Party for the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, and in sequence (33), would be a replacement for MP Ashwaq Najm al-Din Abbas Mohammed al-Jaf, after she obtained (268) votes,” noting that “the Council authorized the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners to inform the Iraqi Parliament/Parliamentary Affairs Department of the content of the decision.”
In a separate statement, the Board of Commissioners approved the decision of the Department of Political Parties and Organizations Affairs, which includes adding the members whose names are indicated next to each political party, according to the tables attached to the Department’s memorandum, noting that the Board decided to task the Department of Political Parties and Organizations Affairs with taking the necessary measures to implement the decision.
