About the Role
Fortics Lifecare Limited is a healthcare holding company focused on building, developing, and managing an integrated healthcare ecosystem across Africa.
We are seeking a Nursing Lead (Matron) responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of nursing services within the hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, timely, and patient-centred nursing care while maintaining professional nursing standards, proper ward management, accurate documentation, and compliance with clinical and organisational policies.
The Matron will also be responsible for the coordination and delivery of Antenatal Care (ANC) services and will support patient acquisition and community engagement initiatives led by the Growth Team.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate nursing activities and ward operations
• Ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred nursing care
• Manage and supervise nursing staff performance, conduct, attendance, and development
• Ensure appropriate patient monitoring, medication administration, and nursing interventions
• Coordinate and deliver Antenatal Care (ANC) services, including patient education and follow-up
• Supervise nursing documentation and EMR compliance
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and nursing standards
• Monitor nursing supplies and escalate shortages to the appropriate authority
• Support nursing-related quality improvement and clinical activities
• Support the Growth Team during community outreaches, health awareness programmes, and approved marketing activities
• Provide regular reports and updates on nursing operations to the Head of Care Team
Requirements
• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid practising licence
• Additional qualification or experience in Midwifery, Nursing Administration, Public Health, or a related field is an advantage
• Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification nursing experience, including relevant supervisory or ward-management experience
• Experience in antenatal care and maternity services is required
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting
• Good knowledge of nursing standards, patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical documentation
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is an advantage
