— 🇺🇦/🇷🇺 Ukraine’s new fixed-term military contract programme has drawn around 8,600 sign-ups since June, according to Ukrainian lawmaker Roman Kostenko, with the total including personnel who were already serving.
That means the number of genuinely new recruits is lower and remains unclear.
Ukrainska Pravda has also reported scepticism among some Ukrainian soldiers over whether promised discharge terms will be honoured and whether post-service mobilisation exemptions are sufficient.
Kyiv introduced the contracts as it continues to face manpower pressures after years of war, combining voluntary recruitment with compulsory mobilisation and higher financial incentives for frontline roles.
