What Do They Actually Make?

KPCL runs on four business lines, but one of them — Compression — is the heart of the company, bringing in over 94% of all revenue.

1. Keeping Things Cold (Air Conditioning & Refrigeration)

Imagine every cold storage warehouse, dairy plant, fish processing unit, and ice factory. They all need machines that pump refrigerant to keep things frozen. KPCL builds:

- Classic ammonia-based refrigeration compressors and chillers for food and cold chain businesses.

- Khione — a newer line of screw-type refrigeration compressors that's picking up fast.

- Tyche — a semi-hermetic compressor (a sealed, low-maintenance design) that's just been successfully rolled out.

- Zephyros — an eco-friendly "all-in-one" chiller and air-conditioning system, built under India's government incentive scheme (PLI) for local manufacturing.

- A recently acquired subsidiary that adds 700+ existing cooling installations across pharma, chemical, and food industries — instant scale.

2. Clean, Oil-Free Air (Air Compressors)

Factories need compressed air the way our lungs need oxygen — but some industries (like pharma or electronics) can't have even a trace of oil in that air.

KPCL's Tezcatlipoca range makes 100% oil-free air compressors, certified to the strictest global cleanliness standard.

Their newest model, the A-800, is a smaller, smarter version designed to replace older "dry screw" compressors — cheaper to run and more efficient. They also make standard screw and reciprocating compressors for power plants and metal industries.

3. Powering the Gas Economy (Process Gas Systems)

This is where it gets interesting. As India expands its natural gas network, someone has to build the machines that compress and move that gas. KPCL supplies:

- Compressors for “CNG stations” and oil & gas pipelines.

- “Biogas systems” (named Jarilo and Tonalli) that convert waste into clean fuel — Tonalli, their newest launch, is a compact unit that literally turns food waste into biogas and fertilizer, small enough for localized use.

- Early-stage compressors for “hydrogen” and “syngas” (a fuel used in coal gasification) — positioning them at the edge of the clean energy transition.

4. The Engine Room Behind the Scenes (Precision Engineering Division)-

This division makes the forged parts, gearboxes, and castings that KPCL's other divisions need to build their machines. It mostly serves KPCL internally, but sells spare capacity to outside industrial and railway locomotive customers.
