SEVERNA PARK, Md. — A 31-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department has been charged with second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree child abuse and related offenses following an investigation by Maryland State Police.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department identified the officer as Sgt. James Brooke Shoults, 59, of Severna Park, who was assigned to the Bureau of Patrol. Court records list seven charges, including second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree child abuse, fourth-degree sexual offense, two counts of second-degree assault and contributing to the condition of a child.

▫️Former MacArthur High School teacher arrested on child sexual assault crimes, records show
SAN ANTONIO – A former MacArthur High School teacher was arrested Sunday on four child sexual abuse counts, according to Bexar County court records.
Paul Pearcy, 49, was indicted by a grand jury Thursday on the following counts:
Count 1: Aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 6 years old
Count 2: Indecency with a child - sexual contact of a child younger than 14 years old
Count 3: Aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 6 years old
Count 4: Indecency with a child - sexual contact of a child younger than 14 years old
The crimes were allegedly committed on or around Feb. 9, 2024, according to the indictment.

▫️FBI seeking more victims of convicted Cornwall-on-Hudson sex offender
The Federal Bureau of Investigations is looking for more potential victims of a convicted child sex offender from Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Investigators say James Valentine may have targeted boys from ages 8 to 15 from 1985 to 2025.
Valentine pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two boys and was sentenced in July to 10 years in prison.
