I think people romanticize yearning too much. We mistake the ache of wanting someone for the depth of love, as if suffering makes a feeling more genuine. But sometimes, yearning is simply attachment to an absence—to a person, a memory, or a possibility that no longer exists. Not every longing is profound; sometimes, it’s just something we haven’t learned to let go of.
