🗣 CFTC Fines Trump Speech Bettor
The CFTC has fined Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, $172,000 for placing bets on Kalshi regarding which words and phrases would appear in Donald Trump’s speeches.
Perez used advance access to speech drafts to gain an unfair edge, netting over $107,000 in profits between December and February. As part of the settlement, he must return those gains, pay a $65,000 penalty, and is banned from participating in prediction markets for three years. His cooperation helped reduce the sanction. Perez was suspended from his role in July.
