Google is turning AI travel search into a bookable hotel workflow

Google says AI Mode will soon let users book hotel stays directly from conversational results in the US. The rollout connects the assistant to Expedia, Booking.com, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, and other travel partners, so a natural-language search can move into booking without dropping back into a standard filter flow.

The update also adds flight price-tracking alerts and lets travelers compare fares in points or miles after linking a rewards account. AI Mode is shifting from discovery to a workflow that combines search, comparison, loyalty context, and booking handoff in one session.

Seller takeaway: conversion will depend on how clearly inventory, rates, and booking terms survive the AI handoff.
