I have been working on this animation project for 3 whole years now and I decided on the artstyle long ago; no resampling or antialiasing is a big part of it. But then one day Blender decided they would entirely change their shadow sampling, causing this wrinkly dithered nonsense which ruined basically every render. This was supposed to improve soft shadows in standard (>1 samples) Eevee renders. Which, granted, it does, but there's no way to disable it for no-antialiasing projects! It even apparently retroactively applied to old versions of Blender since they still used the updated kernels or something SO: I got Codex to fork Blender 5.1.1, gate ANY noise sampling ANYTHING behind a button, and recompile the whole thing. So I did the meme and made a real-life "Unfuck the Shading" button. And my project is saved 🎉 565·Aug 30

ohmygod It's actually working Check it out! This is fully-recreated motion from sparse VR tracker positions by a model I trained on my own PC. It's still a little rough, but with a bit more train and a pinch of craftsmanship and good choreography it'll be gold. I'm gonna use it to help with animation in the show so I don't have an excuse to drag my feet animating anymore! And it means I can physically act in it too. 801·Jun 26

So canonicalization helped a ton! The motion is finally coherent. It still is far from perfect. Hopefully this should clear up with more train, because going from random bone orientations to a canonical rig was a bit of a shock to the system it needs to settle out of. 150·Jun 25
