As a Chemical Engineer, I'm often met with misconceptions. The reality of the field is far broader and more critical than most realize.
While we use chemistry, our true passion is scale. Chemists discover the "what," but we solve the "how"—designing processes that turn a lab-bench gram into millions of doses. My "lab" isn't a beaker; it's a multi-story plant or a complex digital simulation. Much of our work involves managing energy, heat, and fluid flow via coding and optimization to ensure production is safe, efficient, and sustainable.
Far from a narrow field, Chemical Engineering is the backbone of modern life, touching everything from semiconductors and clean water to carbon capture and sustainable fuels. We are the bridge between a theoretical idea and a global reality.
