🔆 PMFME Bazaar: Grassroots Innovation in Food Processing 📍 Why in News? 🟢 Ministry of Food Processing Industries organised the PMFME Bazaar on 24–25 August 2026 at India Habitat Centre. 🟢 Exhibitors from 25 States/UTs showcased traditional and value-added food products. 🟢 PMFME Scheme was launched on 29 June 2020 to support micro food-processing enterprises. 📍 Key Features of PMFME 🟢 Provides financial, technical and business assistance to micro food enterprises. 🟢 Credit-linked capital subsidy: 35% of project cost, up to ₹10 lakh per unit. 🟢 Supports SHGs, FPOs, cooperatives and entrepreneurs. 🟢 Promotes formalisation, branding, better machinery and market access. 📌 Case Study – SHHE Foods, Bihar 🟢 PMFME support helped expand makhana processing from 100 kg/day to 1,000+ kg/day. 🟢 Sales increased from ₹2.5–3 lakh to over ₹14 crore. 📌 Case Study – Tribalveda, Rajasthan 🟢 Connects tribal knowledge with Ayurveda through jamun-based products. 🟢 Provides livelihood opportunities to 3,000–5,000 tribal women. 🟢 Products have reached markets in Dubai and the USA. 📍 Significance 🟢 Promotes value addition to local produce and grassroots entrepreneurship. 🟢 Strengthens rural livelihoods, women’s employment and local brands. 🟢 Helps traditional foods gain national and global markets. 🎯 Mains Application: 🟢 PMFME demonstrates how targeted support can convert local resources and traditional knowledge into formal enterprises, employment and value-added economic opportunities. #goverment_schemes Join https://t.me/PIB_UPSC https://t.me/upsc_government_scheme
