๐ PMFME Bazaar: Grassroots Innovation in Food Processing ๐ Why in News? ๐ข Ministry of Food Processing Industries organised the PMFME Bazaar on 24โ25 August 2026 at India Habitat Centre. ๐ข Exhibitors from 25 States/UTs showcased traditional and value-added food products. ๐ข PMFME Scheme was launched on 29 June 2020 to support micro food-processing enterprises. ๐ Key Features of PMFME ๐ข Provides financial, technical and business assistance to micro food enterprises. ๐ข Credit-linked capital subsidy: 35% of project cost, up to โน10 lakh per unit. ๐ข Supports SHGs, FPOs, cooperatives and entrepreneurs. ๐ข Promotes formalisation, branding, better machinery and market access. ๐ Case Study โ SHHE Foods, Bihar ๐ข PMFME support helped expand makhana processing from 100 kg/day to 1,000+ kg/day. ๐ข Sales increased from โน2.5โ3 lakh to over โน14 crore. ๐ Case Study โ Tribalveda, Rajasthan ๐ข Connects tribal knowledge with Ayurveda through jamun-based products. ๐ข Provides livelihood opportunities to 3,000โ5,000 tribal women. ๐ข Products have reached markets in Dubai and the USA. ๐ Significance ๐ข Promotes value addition to local produce and grassroots entrepreneurship. ๐ข Strengthens rural livelihoods, womenโs employment and local brands. ๐ข Helps traditional foods gain national and global markets. ๐ฏ Mains Application: ๐ข PMFME demonstrates how targeted support can convert local resources and traditional knowledge into formal enterprises, employment and value-added economic opportunities. #goverment_schemes Join https://t.me/PIB_UPSC https://t.me/upsc_government_scheme
