⚡ XRP LEDGER UPGRADE DELAYED TO NOVEMBER AFTER VALIDATOR VOTE RESET
The XRP Ledger's upcoming protocol update has been pushed back after validator support briefly dropped below the threshold required for activation.
🔍 The amendment, called fixCleanup3_4_0, was originally expected to activate on October 23. However, support fell to 26 out of 35 trusted validators on October 21, below the required 29 votes.
XRPL amendments must maintain more than 80% validator approval continuously for 14 days. Even a brief drop below that threshold resets the countdown.
📅 Support subsequently recovered, restarting the approval period. The amendment is now projected to activate on November 4, 2026, at approximately 14:46 UTC — provided sufficient validator support continues.
The update contains fixes affecting trust lines, automated market makers, escrow, token handling, vaults and lending-related code.
⚠️ This is a protocol maintenance update, not the activation of XRPL's separate native lending protocol.
💡 Why it matters: The delay highlights how decentralized governance works in practice. Protocol changes cannot simply be activated on a fixed date without sustained validator agreement.
