I’m a world champion “noticer”. What tends to piss a lot of other whites off at me is that I don’t only notice the flaws in others, and the accomplishments of my own. I also notice the inverse. I’m honest about it, and I try to learn from it rather than make excuses.
I’ve been working back in the inner city doing residential work this year and I’ve noticed that there’s a ton of gentrification going on in my old neighborhoods. Leftists, yuppies, immigrants, new and refurbished homes, coffee shops, micro breweries and gay pride flags on streets that were barely safe to walk down in broad daylight 20 yrs ago due to the inner city blacks. It’s good to remember that most things are cyclical and not linear. It’s good to acknowledge (begrudgingly) the resilience and industriousness of our political adversaries in this situation. Creating communities in places that right wing families fled decades ago.
That’s not the point of this picture though. This is a Mexican crew across the street working. Who the hell else climbs 40 ft on a 20 dollar aluminum extension ladder besides Mexicans? Placed against an uneven surface at the roof line. It was 96 degrees out yesterday and these dudes were on a roof still at 6 pm. They work 12 hrs a day, for less money, so their stay at homes wives can raise 6-8 kids in some home that was falling down when they bought it, in a neighborhood that we abandoned to the blacks decades ago.
This part of their culture is commendable. Admirable. It’s to be acknowledged and matched, if not surpassed. I don’t know why so many foreigners can’t seem to replicate this in their home countries, but that’s not the point. We live here and now and this is the competition.
If you are an American raising kids who can’t manage to to put down their Xbox controller and their weed pipe long enough to tackle their crippling anxiety, and show up for their 6 hr shift at Pizza Hut… we have already lost. No excuses. No explanation for it.
We have gotten soft, lazy, and comfortable, and the future belongs to those who will work and fight for it.
That’s how we conquered this country. Inch by inch with work and sometimes aggression. That’s exactly how it’s being conquered now.
