“Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, ‘The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; return! Come back!’”
— Isaiah 21:11-12, NKJV
There is a question that rises from the heart of anyone walking through a night:
“Watchman, what of the night?”
It is the question of someone who has been waiting for a long time. Someone who has prayed but has not yet seen the answer. Someone who still believes, yet is passing through a season where everything seems covered in darkness.
And the watchman gives a powerful answer:
“The morning comes.” 🌅
He does not say, “Perhaps the morning will come.”
He does not say, “Maybe it will come.”
He says:
“The morning comes.”
The night has a limit.
It may be long.
It may be painful.
It may be silent.
But it is not eternal.
🔥 Do not mistake the length of your night for the absence of God.
The fact that you cannot see the dawn yet does not mean that God has stopped working.
But then the watchman adds something that keeps our faith from being built on circumstances:
“And also the night.”
Walking with God does not mean that we will never experience another dark season.
It means that no night can separate us from His presence.
True faith does not say:
“There will never be another night.”
True faith says:
“Even in the night, God is with me.”
And then comes one of the most powerful statements:
“If you will inquire, inquire; return! Come back!”
It is as though the watchman is saying:
“If you still have questions, keep seeking. If you still do not understand, return. If you want to know, come again.”
🔥 What a word for those who are waiting for an answer from God!
Do not stop praying because you have not seen it yet.
Do not stop seeking because you do not understand yet.
Do not stop believing because the promise seems delayed.
RETURN. COME BACK.
Return to prayer.
Return to the Word.
Return to the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Return to the altar.
Return to fellowship with God.
The watchman does not leave the tower because the dawn seems delayed.
HE REMAINS STANDING.
👁️ He watches while others sleep.
🙏 He prays when others have stopped praying.
🔥 He keeps the fire burning when everything around him seems dark.
📖 He remains faithful to the Word when circumstances appear to contradict it.
And here is the prophetic heart of this passage:
YOU ARE NOT CALLED TO PRODUCE THE DAWN.
YOU ARE CALLED TO REMAIN FAITHFUL UNTIL THE DAWN.
The dawn does not depend on the strength of the watchman.
The dawn belongs to God.
Your responsibility is simply to remain on the tower.
Perhaps today you are in the middle of a night and you cannot understand what God is doing.
But hear the voice of the watchman:
“The morning comes.” 🌅
Keep going.
If you must weep, weep before God.
If you must wait, wait before God.
If you must pray again, pray again.
If you must return, return.
Because the God who sustained you through the night will be the same God who allows you to see the morning.
And when the morning comes, you will understand that God was not absent during the night.
HE WAS WITH YOU IN THE WATCHTOWER.
🔥 Do not leave your position.
Do not let your lamp go out.
Do not abandon prayer.
Do not throw away your faith.
The night will pass.
The morning will come.
And when you still do not understand, return and come again.
Seek again. Pray again. Believe again.
Because those who remain faithful in the night will be there to see the dawn break.
🌅🔥 THE NIGHT WILL NOT HAVE THE FINAL WORD.
