Allah says in surah al-Ma'idah:
[يَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ ۖ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ الْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللَّهُ]
They ask you what has been made lawful for them. Say: Wholesome things have been made lawful for you as well as [game caught by] the hunting animals you have trained just as Allah taught you. [4]
This ayah serves to show that a knowledgeable person has a certain virtue that an ignorant person does not have. That is because when a dog learns [to hunt], it has a virtue over other dogs. All the more so with humans; when one acquires knowledge he has a virtue over other humans, especially if he puts what he learns into action.
