₿ Bitcoin Hits $69,500 as Treasury Doubles Bond Buybacks
Bitcoin surged to $69,500 and briefly touched near $69,000 in New York trading after the U.S. Treasury announced it would raise the maximum size of its long-dated bond buyback operations from $2 billion to at least $4 billion, covering 10-to-20-year and 20-to-30-year securities.
Ether jumped ~10%, Solana climbed, and total crypto market cap rose 5.1%. The move triggered roughly $1.7 billion in liquidations, with short positions accounting for 91% of the total. Crypto-linked equities also rallied, with Strategy and Bitmine each gaining around 10%.
