🤖 Mistral AI raises €3B in Europe's largest-ever tech funding round
French AI startup Mistral AI has closed a €3 billion Series D round led by Samsung Electronics, pushing its valuation past €21 billion — nearly double its previous figure. The company calls it the largest equity fundraising ever completed by a European tech firm.
Co-leads include Scaleup Europe Fund (managed by EQT) and existing investor PSG Equity, with Advent and BlackRock-managed funds also participating. Founded three years ago, Mistral is betting on open-weight models and sovereign AI to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic.
