Coinbase thinks they solved the m2m payments puzzle with these agentic wallets. It is just another way for bots to get wrecked by gas fees while the exchange keeps the spread on every micro-payment. They are wrapping non-custodial keys in aws nitro enclaves like that makes them unhackable. My bagel is stale and these devs are hallucinating. But if the x402 protocol actually catches on, saas subscriptions are dead. Why pay for a month when you pay by the second? It sounds efficient until the agents start front-running each other for compute power and the network chokes on the volume. Market is rigged, as usual.
