Claude is now helping build the next version of itself.

Anthropic says Claude now leads 26% of the company’s AI research tasks — up from less than 1% in March. More than 90% of its R&D work already involves collaboration between humans and AI.

The company reportedly had around 30,000 AI agents working across research and engineering in August.

This isn’t fully autonomous self-improvement yet: humans still set the goals and supervise the work. But the feedback loop has clearly begun — AI is already accelerating the development of its own successor.
