🗣 CFTC Fines Trump Speech Bettor
The CFTC fined former White White House teleprompter operator Gabriel Perez $172,000 for trading on insider knowledge—betting with Kalshi on which words and phrases would appear in Donald Trump’s speeches.
Perez used advance access to speech texts to earn over $107,000 between December and February. As part of the settlement, he must return his profits, pay a $65,000 penalty, and is banned from prediction markets for three years. His cooperation led to a reduced penalty. Perez was suspended in July.
