🤖 UPI payments could soon get an AI upgrade.
NPCI is reportedly working on a Unified Agent Protocol that could allow AI agents to make small-ticket UPI payments on users’ behalf, within pre-set limits and rules.
The framework could initially target high-frequency payments such as grocery orders and routine purchases, with more advanced use cases like automated buying based on discounts or sales potentially coming later.
The move could mark another step towards agentic commerce, as NPCI looks to bring AI deeper into India’s digital payments ecosystem.
