⚠️ Balochistan: Mir Khurshid Ahmed Raisani, described in local reports as a prominent landowner in Kank, Mastung, was killed in a shooting on September 8. Reports state that he was attacked while at his farmland and died from his injuries while being transported to Quetta for treatment.
Local reports have alleged that Raisani was a key member of a pro-government armed group referred to locally as a “death squad,” reportedly associated with Mir Farid Raisani and previously Mir Wadud Raisani. The reports accuse the group of conducting intelligence activities for Pakistani security forces, burning homes and collecting clandestine payments from local landowners.
The reports further claim that Farid Raisani took control of the group following the death of Siraj Raisani, who was himself killed in an attack claimed by Islamic State.
On September 9, Islamic State (ISKP) claimed responsibility for Raisani’s killing through its Amaq media outlet, describing him as an alleged Pakistani intelligence operative.
