🇺🇸🇷🇺 US military C-17 lands in Moscow, Kremlin says it had no information
A US Air Force C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport after flying from Riga, Latvia, according to Flightradar24 data cited by Reuters.
The aircraft had previously flown from the US Camp Springs airbase near Washington to Riga on August 23 before continuing to Moscow.
The unexpected flight has sparked speculation over its purpose, including a possible diplomatic mission or prisoner exchange. The C-17 is designed to transport troops and military equipment over long distances.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there were no planned meetings with US administration representatives in Russia this week and that the Kremlin had no information about the aircraft’s arrival.
The last reported US-registered flight directly from Europe to Russia was in January, when US envoys traveled to Moscow for Ukraine peace talks.
