Over the weekend the warriors of Raven Folk United competed against brothers at Forest Fights and Frontier 5. Our men stepped up to the challenge and entered the arena for the honor and glory. There is no prize money, there is no belt, there is only the fight, and the name you make for yourself during it. Our warriors showed who they were and they all honored their names and bloodlines. We had men fighting in a cage and on the open battlefield and facing all the fear and doubt that comes with it before they showed up and showed out and brought back to the folk: glory. These warriors had this to say after their fights.
"I mean for me all of it is spiritual. I don't know how everyone views it, but the closest I feel to my ancestors is when I'm training and competing, building bonds and watching as my opponents become friends; there's just something really special there. I'm not sure if bonds like that can be found anywhere else in this modern world." - J
"It was truly an honor and a privilege to share in our ancestral martial prowess. To stand shoulder to shoulder with and against kinsmen and folk, building bonds of loyalty and frith cemented through self-sacrifice of blood and the embracement of courage under fire. Iron sharpens Iron as we sharpen our Brothers and Kinsmen." - E
"It’s not just about combat. Any man can train long enough and well enough to get in the cage and have at least a modicum of success. It’s about something much deeper than this. It’s about the bonds and connections that can only be forged through blood and sweat. Through honorable combat against your brothers. This weekend meant much to me. The solidifying of the connections between us is a testament to what the men of our people are capable of. And through these bonds of brotherhood forged in an anvil of blood, we will pave the new path forward for the health and prosperity of our people." - B
"The warrior spirit is the missing link joining these men together. Some bonds are made through handshakes and others are strengthened by bloodshed and battle. I must say from my personal experience it is and has always been a great honor to be amongst some of the finest warriors that our Folk has to offer and the best part about it: all of it was witnessed not only in front of our Folk, but it was witnessed in front of the gods, the goddesses, and the ancestors... Hail to all the men that stepped foot in the fray and fought with courage and honor." - S
We recognize these strong men and great warriors who carried our name and banner into the fray. We walked with them to the arena and cheered for them from the stands and the corner, but only they entered the arena, and only they truly deserve the glory. Hail the warriors of Raven Folk United!
