A Letter to Every Aspirant
Dear Warriors,
Very best of luck from both of us. God bless you, we know you are going to do wonderfully.
We understand the tension you are feeling tonight, that fear of forgetting everything you have learned. Please trust yourself. You have read enough, worked hard enough, and everything you need will come back to you exactly when the paper needs it. There is nothing to panic about.
Walk in tomorrow as if you have already won. Tell yourself, this exam is made for me, this is simply a gateway I have to cross, and I am already there. Do not judge yourself by your past attempts. This is not a do or die situation, it is one more opportunity opening the door to a beautiful next phase of your life. With over fifty thousand postgraduate seats waiting, there is real abundance ahead of you, so there is no need to carry fear into that hall.
A few practical reminders. Highlight keywords, zoom into images if you are unsure, and increase the font size if needed. Reach the centre a little early so the crowd does not overwhelm you. You do not have to be a topper or remember every detail to do well, this exam only tests your overall knowledge and your presence of mind. If you are torn between two options, trust your first instinct, and when still unsure, choose the more common answer.
Go at a good pace from question one. Translate each question into your own words as you read it, this alone prevents most silly mistakes. Do not dwell on a difficult question, that time is better spent on three easy ones ahead. Keep your marked for review list short, no more than three per set to start. Every set is a fresh paper, treat it that way.
Remember, giving your best does not mean being extraordinary. It means staying calm, alert, and consistent across all five sets, without burning out early. Before you walk in, tell yourself, I will do my best, and I will come back with no regrets.
This has been a long journey, with some hard days and some strong ones, and you kept going through all of it. Please do not attach your self worth to this outcome. Approach it practically, not emotionally. Keep tunnel vision, it is just one paper, three hours of your life. Detach from every expectation around you, look inward, and know you have earned this moment.
Carry the blessings of every teacher at DAMS with you tomorrow, like a protective bubble around you. Keep fire in your belly and ice in your head, a calm mind and a burning heart, and take it step by step, question by question.
We have watched this journey for over twenty five years, and every single time, the students who felt most nervous the night before came back the happiest afterward. That will be you too.
If we could, we would place our hands on your head and kiss your forehead tonight, the way we would for our own son. Consider that done, with all our love. We do not just want you to shine in this exam, we want you to shine in life, and to become even better than us. You are our legacy.
Go out there and give it a good fight, our warriors. Seek your parents' blessings before you leave, visit a temple if that brings you peace, and let everything else go. It is going to be good.
Sleep on time tonight. Reach your centre with time to spare tomorrow. Go in smiling, and come back with an even bigger smile.
With all our love and blessings,
Dr. Sumer Sethi and Dr. Deepti Bahl
