Russia will not use nuclear weapons.
I had the Chinese foreign minister visiting me, and I raised the issue with him. He said, “We will never allow that to happen.”
I think that’s a pretty good deterrent.
I'm sure we are approaching the day when it would be useful for Europeans to be in more direct contact with Russia, and especially because we need to avoid misunderstandings.
So, dialogue will begin at some stage, but I just can't give you a date because I don't know it.
So far, I do not see warfare. I don’t think Russia would ever want to attack the most powerful military alliance in the world, NATO.
First, I have intelligence information. Second, we have deterrence, and that deterrence is stronger than that of any other military power anywhere in the world.
That deterrence is based on conventional forces, missiles, and nuclear weapons. There is no point for any power in the world to test the resolve of that alliance.
I don’t believe Russia will end this war because of an economic downturn, which we are actually seeing right now.
Never underestimate the capacity of Russians' ability to go through hard economic times.
You only have to go back to the Soviet period to understand that.
🇫🇮🇪🇺🇷🇺⚡️ — BILD: Why are you so sure that Russia would not attack us?
Finland’s President Stubb: Well, you can never be 100 percent certain about anything in this world, but quite frankly, from everything we see, everything we read, and everything we discuss, we simply do not see that at this point.
And the reason is very simple. Russian troops are tied down in Ukraine, and right now they actually have a deficit. They have less and less soldiers in a more complicated world.
For them now to suddenly mobilize on two fronts, I just don't see that happening.
🇫🇮🇺🇸⚡️ — Finland's President Alexander Stubb on Trump:
Whether you like it or not, Trump is one of the most consequential American presidents in history.
He does things and gets them through.
