CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Guston, Kingsdown and St Margaret's-at-Cliffe local council by-Election
---
The resignation of a Conservative councillor on Dover District Council has triggered a by-election in the Guston, Kingsdown and St Margaret's-at-Cliffe ward and Restore Britain is standing a candidate.
This is an opportunity for us to prove ourselves in Kent, and where better than the ward next to the Port of Dover where the invasion comes in. Locals will have stories and be frustrated by the lack of action by the establishment parties, we can therefore stand out.
This is a local district election, but a good result for Restore would be seismic across the nation and would be a great way to kick off us standing in the South East.
There are dates below for action days, please come down and help our candidate, your help could get us over the line!
OUR CANDIDATE
We have an outstanding candidate: Jez Hermer MBE.
Jez is a successful local businessman, a former Royal Marines officer, and now sits on the Kingsdown Parish Council. He has also lived in the ward for most of his life.
ACTION DAYS THIS WEEKEND (8th & 9th August)
Meeting point: The Zetland Arms, Wellington Parade, Kingsdown, CT14 8AF
Time: 10:00am
We will be meeting here on both Saturday & Sunday at 10am.
This is a key by-election in Dover, and the more campaigners we have on the ground, the stronger our message will be.
COMMENTS FROM BRANCH ORGANISER (HENRY BOLTON OBE)
This is Restore Britain's first by-election in the South East region. We are the vanguard. Where we lead, the rest of the party will follow. Others know this and we, as well as our performance, will be watched carefully. I have already had enquiries from the Kent Messenger Group and Kent online and we need to make a good showing. That showing comes in two forms.
1) Win the election: We must, of course perform well in the election. In this particular ward, and with Jez as our candidate, I genuinely believe we have a good chance of winning the seat. It will be close, but even if we don't win, we must put the other parties on notice.
2) Mobilise: We must demonstrate the ability to mobilse volunteers. Impressions count and if we cannot mobilse supporters to deliver leaflets then the press, other parties and, most importantly, voters will not take us seriously. We must be seen and seen to be active.
Mobilising manpower is also vital in being able to get the message out to all 2,900 or so households in the ward by leafleting.
