🗣 CFTC Fines Trump Speech Bettor
The CFTC has fined Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, $172,000 for trading on insider knowledge in Kalshi prediction markets.
Perez used advance access to Trump’s speech scripts to place bets on which phrases would appear, earning over $107,000 between December and February. As part of the settlement, he must return his profits, pay a $65,000 penalty, and is banned from participating in prediction markets for three years. His cooperation helped reduce the sanctions. Perez was initially suspended in July.
