Welcome to the Department of Geology at Wolaita Sodo University, Ethiopia! Established in 2018, we are one of the FOUR part of the Wolaita sodo university's FOCUS AREAS including Geology, Agriculture, Humanity, and Engineering & Technology.
Academic Programs
We offer a BSc degree in Geology and will soon introduce MSc programs. Our curriculum provides a thorough understanding of Earth's structure, processes, and resources.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Our facilities include advanced laboratories for Petrology, Petrographic, Engineering Geology, and Geochemistry, along with field equipment for geological exploration.
Expert Faculty
Our faculty members are experts in Mineralogy, Petrology, Sedimentology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Geophysics, Geospatial and Remote Sensing, Structural Geology, Economic Geology, and Environmental Geology, dedicated to mentoring and innovative teaching.
We have a total of 18 academic staff ( 1 assistance professor, 11 Lecturer, 2 Graduate assistants, and four staff under study).
Field-Based Learning
Our location in Ethiopia's diverse geological landscape offers unique fieldwork opportunities, enhancing students' practical skills in geological mapping and survey techniques.
Research and Opportunities
Students can engage in research projects, fieldwork expeditions, and internships, preparing them for careers in mining, environmental consulting, academia, and government.
