During his lifetime, Leo Tolstoy became the most prominent figure of literary realism, influencing such renowned writers as Ernest Hemingway, Romain Rolland, Yaroslav Ivashkevich, Rainer Rilke, and others.📽 Tolstoy's works have been translated into more than 90 languages, and his most famous novels have been adapted for the screen numerous times, receiving various cinematic interpretations – from the Soviet classic "War and Peace" directed by Sergei Bondarchuk in 1967 to the modern Western version of "Anna Karenina" directed by Joe Wright in 2012.
