Several US military leaders have warned Secretary of War Pete Hegseth that prolonging large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening the military’s ability to confront threats elsewhere, including threats to the US homeland, the Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with a recent classified assessment.
The warnings were included in the Aug. 14 edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders Book and came from the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force as well as four-star commanders overseeing US operations in Europe, Asia and Latin America, according to the report.
