The strikes would aim to prevent Iran from rebuilding those capabilities while reducing threats to tankers and U.S. forces.

Pete Hegseth reportedly backs the plan, but Trump has not approved it. The White House is reconsidering the proposal after Iran’s missile attack on U.S. bases in Jordan.
