Russian specialists are helping Iran develop a ramjet engine — it allows a cruise missile to fly several times faster than the speed of sound at low altitude. Experts believe the technology will certainly be used for anti-ship missiles and strikes on ground targets.
Iran has already created and tested such an engine, but there is no evidence that the Russian-Iranian missile has been deployed. Meanwhile, correspondence obtained by the FT indicates that negotiations regarding the program continued this summer.
