The Covid psyop revealed something far more disturbing than the corruption of governments, the dishonesty of institutions or the complicity of the media; it revealed just how easily human beings can be coerced, controlled and ultimately owned.
We discovered that fear alone was not enough to secure obedience, but when combined with the threat of social rejection, it became one of the most powerful instruments of control.
People were not merely frightened of illness, they were frightened of being judged, excluded, ridiculed, dismissed as selfish, denied access to society and abandoned by those they loved.
The need for approval became a weapon. The desire to belong became a leash. Reputation, employment, relationships and even family were used as instruments of control, and millions surrendered their judgement, their bodily autonomy and their moral responsibility, simply because standing against the current felt too painful.
That period forced every one of us to discover whether our principles were genuine convictions or merely comfortable opinions we held while they cost us nothing.
Those who refused to comply were mocked, censored, threatened, ostracised and excluded. Many lost friends, careers, opportunities and relationships, yet they continued to swim against the current because betraying themselves would have cost them more than anything the world could take away.
We found out the price of freedom.
Freedom is not something granted to us by governments, nor is it proved by the absence of visible chains. Freedom is the ability to remain sovereign when obedience is rewarded and dissent is punished; it is the courage to stand alone when an entire room turns against you, and to accept being misunderstood rather than surrender what you know to be right.
Only those who were prepared to endure rejection, isolation and loss rather than hand over their conscience can truly claim to have been free, because a person whose choices can be purchased, whose silence can be bought or whose obedience can be secured through fear of exclusion is not free, they are owned.
The Covid years taught us that independence will always disappoint those who prefer our obedience, but once we no longer fear rejection, rejection loses its power over us.
There is nothing you can offer me that is worth betraying myself for, and nothing you can withhold that will make me surrender what I know to be right; that is sovereignty. That is freedom.
