In a notable development, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia could trigger the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement (Mecca Pact). Similar to NATO’s Article 5 commitments, per Minister Asif, one attack is seen as an attack on all. Pakistani sources also told TürkiyeToday that Pakistan could conduct airstrikes against Houthi positions in Saada and other areas at the request of the Saudis in the near term, but per their sources, no decision has yet been made.
