The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center has issued two advisories following reports of suspected attacks on commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf.
In the first incident, the master of a vessel reported directly to UKMTO that the vessel was struck by an unknown projectile while approximately 28 nautical miles off Al-Faw, Iraq.
In a second incident reported just 18 minutes later, UKMTO received a third party report that a vessel was listing after reportedly being struck by an unknown projectile approximately 24 nautical miles off Port Rashid, United Arab Emirates.
UKMTO has not attributed either incident to Iran. However, the reports surfaced following the Iranian warning that they would attack ships in or near ports friendly to U.S. forces.
