🔴 Lenin on Gorky’s Idealization of Lenin
Maxim Gorky portrayed Lenin in highly personal and heroic terms. Lenin himself rejected this approach.
In 1920, Lenin wrote:
“Gorky gave extremely subjective and virtually idealist appraisals of the role of Lenin…”
He criticized Gorky for overlooking:
“the leading role of the Communist Party, the decisive role of the working class and the peasantry in the revolution.”
For Lenin, the Revolution was not the product of a “great man,” but of class struggle, material conditions, and the political organization of the proletariat.
